What is the best pallet racking?
Determining the best pallet racking system depends on various factors such as the type of products to be stored, the available warehouse space, and the handling equipment used. Here are some popular types of pallet racking systems that you may consider.
Used pallet racking: Just because they are used doesn’t mean they are not good to use. Our used pallet racks feel like brand new, and you won’t be paying a premium. It’s an ideal scenario for reducing your costs, while increasing efficiency.
Selective pallet racking: The most popular and versatile pallet racking system. Gives immediate access to stored material with any type of forklift. Ideal for general warehousing, manufacturing, and low-turnover retail. It offers easy access to individual pallets, making it ideal for businesses with a high number of SKUs.
Double reach/double deep pallet racking: High-density storage at a lower cost. A double reach rack system is similar to selective pallet racking, but it allows pallets to be stored two deep. This means that it provides higher storage density than selective pallet racking, but access to the rear pallets is restricted. Saves space because fewer aisles are needed to access loads.
Drive-in pallet racking: It works on a first-in, last-out basis, which means the pallets placed last will be the first to be removed. The drive-in racking system is ideal for products with a long shelf life and low turnover. This system is designed for high-density storage and allows you to store pallets deep within the system.
Push-back pallet racking: Faster picking vs. drive-in racks because you put away and de-shelve from the front. Push-back pallet rack systems are safer for forklift operators since they never enter into the system or need to maneuver in tight spaces.
Can you install your own pallet racking?
Technically yes, but it is important to note that pallet racking installation can be a complex and potentially dangerous process. Improperly installed pallet racking can result in serious accidents and injuries to workers, damage to products, and costly repairs.
In most cases, outfitting a warehouse with a pallet rack system is best left to a professional contractor. You will save time and avoid potential problems with installation.
However, if you are considering installing pallet racking yourself, it is important to ensure that you have the necessary knowledge, skills, and equipment to do so safely and correctly. You will need to have a good understanding of the design and configuration of the pallet racking system, as well as the proper installation procedures and safety requirements.
